In May of last year, we shared news about the amazing growth of the Renton High School Marching Band and their quest for new uniforms. Back then, the school only had 30 partial uniforms that represented a retired mascot. Their goal was to raise the funds to purchase 100 new uniforms! Click here to read the May 2025 post.

Through amazing community support, the Renton High School RedHawkS Marching band performed in their new uniforms at the 2026 Homecoming Football Game!

RHS Students are Empowered by New Uniforms

“The students are excited to wear the uniforms!”says Katherine Suebert, Renton High School Band & Orchestra Teacher. “They’re coming in and having that sense of pride and ownership!”

During the game, we asked students in the band to describe how the uniforms made a difference in their performances. They responded with enthusiasm and expressed their gratitude for being able to proudly represent their school culture on the field. “From coming into band with only 30 people, to what it is now today, these uniforms make us feel professional as a band and it feels great,” says Junior Perez, a senior euphonium player in the band.

A "Thriller" Halftime!

The band delivered a special performance of Micheal Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ for the halftime show. Students and families were impressed with the band's skills and the professionalism they showed on the field.

Thank You

The Renton Schools Foundation is thankful for the amazing community support that made these uniforms happen for Renton High School.  These donors covered the entire cost of the 100 new uniforms - totalling $66,120!

A special thank you to:

  • Nancy & Jerry Belur

  • Shari Fisher Randall Rockhill Student Instrumental Music Fund

  • Friends of Renton High School

  • and the additional 39 individual donors!

Watching the students of the marching band carry their school colors with pride, tradition, and excellence was truly empowering.
